My artist

Today I choose to write about something fun. Instead of the gross sickness that has trapped our family in PJs for 4 days, stranded us on the couch watching kids’ shows, and forcing us to only enjoy graham crackers and cheerios…

Alyssa loves to draw and color. She has recently added a “stomach” to her people, which I like to call a big bottom. But she insists it is their stomach. And as of this drawing they are now wearing clothes. It is so cool to watch their little minds figure this kind of stuff out. She is also picking up an interest in birds like her daddy. At breakfast the other day, she said, “Do you know what time it is mom? iiiiiiit’s bird-watching time.” And proceeded to get her own pair of binoculars out to look at the birds in the backyard. Here is some of her latest work.

Pooh. This was drawn at the end of our Pooh movie. An artist shows you how to draw Pooh with the cross lines and everything. She did this all by watching the guy on TV.

  1. I am always thankful for the TV when we are sick (or I am trying to get anything done) and now I will remember that there is an instructional art part at the end of the Pooh movie, Trey LOVES to color. We too have been sick for, let’s see, a long time. Hope the end is in sight! Miss you all.

  2. that’s great Alyssa! maybe you can teach me a few things about drawing!
sorry yall were sick~ hope you feel better!
    love you!

  3. Something about the robin makes me very happy. So impressed. How could she not be gifted and artsy with you as her mom? Hope the sick bugs leave you all alone! Feel better.

  4. She is quite the artist! I love the pooh… I know I couldn’t do a better job! Hope you are feeling better soon! Love you…

  5. Wow, that Pooh drawing is advanced way beyond her years! If she can’t become a professional bird watcher, at least she’ll have her artistic talent to fall back on! Morgan got the gross sickness, too. 🙁 Maybe I jinxed it by talking about vomit when we were all at Taco Bell last Wed…so much for our nifty placemats keeping the germs away!

  6. dont forget how important those PBS shows are. thats how i learned the art of oil painting from my mentor Bob Ross; construction from Norm Abraham; and bath time from Bert and Ernie Ernie Ernie. hahahahaha (Brad will get that one)
